Parliament is the foundation of democracy and focal point of all national activities . It plays a pivotal role in ensuring good governance of a country. The people of Bangladesh have already created a unique history in winning the independence under the able and dynamic leadership of our great leader and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and in establishing democracy.

Soon after independence, Bangladesh embarked on a journey towards establishing parliamentary system of government where the three organs of the state - Legislature, Executive and the Judiciary are separate from each other democratic system paves the way for attaining peace, stability and development. A dynamic and active parliamentary democracy is the precondition for consolidation of democracy and attainment of development. Democracy is gaining ground and is gradually heading towards success. We should prepare ourselves to face the challenges that will come in our way and brings progress and prosperity for the nation .I firmly believe that mutual respect and trust among the members of both treasury and opposition will contribute towards flourishing of our hard earned democracy.
